DESIGN INTERN

SUMMARY

We are currently looking for a highly creative Interior Design/Architecture Intern to assist and work alongside other Designers in a creative, boutique design firm. This position requires the ideal candidate to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment due to project diversity and client needs. The perfect candidate has a passion for design and small business development and is looking to gain extensive hands-on experience in a variety of related disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of a project lead, the primary responsibilities will include the following:

Design Intern for Interior Design Firm

  • Assist with all aspects of the design process ranging from conceptual development to contract administration

  • Accompany Designer(s) on on-site project visits, as needed

  • Assist with administrative duties of projects (ie acknowledgements, purchase orders, scheduling, etc)

  • Assist with handling out-of-office duties pertaining to projects (mileage reimbursed)

  • Maintain design resource library

  • Research and develop vendor and contractor database

  • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials for commercial and residential projects

  • Assist with social media platforms - Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, HOUZZ – with a goal to increase brand awareness, online presence, and relevancy

  • Assist in event coordination, planning, and engagement of events and initiatives within the firm (if scheduled)

  • Participate in general office/administrative tasks

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be actively enrolled and engaged in pursuit of an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture, or related-field, or have relative experience.

  • Must be punctual.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and ideally Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Must be flexible and proactive in taking on assignments and responsibilities and have an overall willingness to learn.

  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Graphic Design skills a plus.

  • Must have high organizational skills and a strong attention to detail.

COMPENSATION STRUCTURE

This is an unpaid internship that can be used for college credit.
