Whether you schedule an On-Site Design Consultation or Hourly Consulting, we can address a wide range of design questions and needs, including:

How does Hourly Consulting differ from Full Interior Design Services?

Hourly Consulting is a flexible, task-based service for clients who need design support on a smaller scale or over a shorter timeline. It’s ideal for things like selecting finishes, reviewing layouts, or getting help with a specific phase of a project. This service is billed in 1-hour increments and requires a signed agreement, but it doesn’t follow a structured, multi-phase design process.

Full Interior Design Services, by contrast, are comprehensive and process-driven. This service involves hiring our team to fully design and implement your space—from concept through completion. It typically includes space planning, finish and furniture selections, detailed drawings, documentation, and coordination with your contractor or project team. Full-service projects are often larger in scope and budget and can be billed hourly or as a flat fee, depending on your scope of work.

How does the Onsite Design Consultation differ from Hourly Consulting?

The Onsite Design Consultation is a one-time, strategy-focused session designed to offer immediate insight and expert guidance. It includes a 20-minute virtual prep call, a 60-minute site visit, and tailored recommendations based on your space, goals, and questions. No contract is required, and it’s ideal for clients looking to explore ideas, test direction, or get feedback before committing to a larger scope of work.

 

Hourly Consulting, by contrast, is for clients who are ready to move forward with specific design tasks—whether as a continuation of the consultation or as a standalone service. It is contract-based and billed in 1-hour increments at our standard project rate. Hourly Consulting may include sourcing, design development, plan reviews, or collaboration with your contractor or architect over a longer period of time.

The Hourly Consulting service ($375/hour) is best for clients who are ready to move forward with clearly defined design tasks - such as sourcing, space planning, layout reviews, or collaborating with contractors and architects. Hourly work typically occurs off-site and is most effective when booked in increments of 4+ hours. It is contract-based and offers flexible support over time.

 

Each service is structured and priced based on the type of design involvement and level of support provided, allowing us to tailor our approach to your specific goals and project scope.

 

What is typically not included in your Onsite Design Consultation?

  • Follow-up emails or calls

  • Purchasing services

  • Design documents such as digital storyboards, renderings, or CAD plans

  • Customization or fabrication

Do you offer a hybrid model?

Yes. For clients seeking both on-site expertise and continued support, we offer a flexible hybrid model. We start with a one-hour On-Site Design Consultation ($575) to walk through your space, ask questions, and provide expert, in-person guidance. From there, we can extend our work through Hourly Consulting ($375/hour) for any follow-up design tasks completed off-site. If you'd like us to return for another in-person session, we simply book an additional On-Site Consultation at the same $575 rate.

Will I be able to discuss my needs before I book my consultation?

We ask that you prepare for this meeting by having all information that you want to review and further discuss ready for when the consultation begins. We will review your design inquiry prior to the consultation. If you have not completed this inquiry, please do so here.

Will I be able to ask follow-up questions?

We encourage you to prepare a list of questions and topics you wish to cover prior to your consultation to maximize your time and ensure you get all the answers you need. If you require further assistance, you have the option to purchase additional hours for off-site work or schedule another consultation for more one-on-one time with your Designer.

What if I don’t have enough time to address all my questions?

If you find that you don’t have time to get all of your questions answered, we suggest booking another consultation or adding on hours for off-site work to be performed to continue to address items from the initial consultation. If the Designer’s schedule is not full on the same day of your consultation, it may be possible to extend the time of your consultation. If this is possible, you will be billed for the additional hours this same day.

When am I charged after booking the consultation? 

You will be sent an invoice after you schedule your consultation. Typically, this invoice is sent within 48 hours of booking your service and is due upon receipt.

What is your reschedule or cancellation policy? 

You can reschedule or cancel your consultation up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund. Clients are allowed one reschedule and one cancellation per consultation. Any additional reschedules or cancellations will be declined and charged in full. If you cancel within 48 hours of your scheduled consultation, you will be charged in full out of respect for your Designer's time and further reschedules will be declined. Can I give the gift of an Hourly Consultation session?

 

Sometimes, there is nothing more memorable than a gift that gives an experience and can be problem-solving and fun all at the same time! You can purchase an e-gift card for our Hourly Consulting service (for on-site or virtual). The gift recipient will be sent a personalized e-gift card via email that contains a link where they are able to choose their preferred date and time for the consultation, based on the Designer’s availability. Please note that the purchases of a gift card is nonrefundable. 

What happens if I am not satisfied with the consultation? 

We guarantee that your Designer has the expertise to advise you on interior design topics. However, neither Green Owl Design as a firm nor our Designers individually can guarantee satisfaction with all advice provided or take responsibility for decisions made based on that advice. Therefore, we do not offer refunds based on your satisfaction with the consultation. We take all client feedback seriously, and any complaints will be reviewed thoroughly to determine the appropriate response by Green Owl Design.
